Why Add Phytase?




This trial aims to researching the effects of adding Phytase into corn-soybean meal on the nutrient utilization of broilers which are 0-3 and 4-6 weeks age

Why Add Phytase?

  • Phytate is an important anti-nutrition factor in feed of monogastric species. It can reduce the utilization rate of feed phosphorus and other nutrients by animals.
  • Phytase can degrade phytate , release phosphorus and other nutrients and improve the absorption and utilization rate of these nutrients by live stock and poultry.
  • The digestive tract of pigs, chicken and other monogastric species is insufficient in Phytase enzyme, it is essential to add from exogenous source.
  • Increase phosphorus phytate utilization rate of feed by 40%-60% and the utilization rate of calcium , zinc , copper , magnesium , and other minerals.

Due to the fact that the phosphoric groups in phytic acid shows electro negativity , it has very strong chelating capacity with some cations, such as Ca ,Mg , Zn ,Cu , Mn ,Fe , K , … they can form insoluble salts , thus influencing the absorption and utilization of these minerals by live stock and poultry.

The phosphoric groups can also combine with cation groups on the protein , amino acid , starch and lipid in feed , and reduce their solubility  thus influencing digestibility of these nutritional materials by live stock and poultry.


Phytic acid can also combine with the lipids in animal body , such as amylase, pepsin , trypsin , acid phosphatase , … and reduce the activity of these enzymes , resulting in a reduced utilization rate of ration nutrients.


Adding high level Phytase into broilers daily ration can significantly improve the digestive utilization of AME and crude Protein , and reduce the energy and protein level in the daily ration.

High level Phytase can almost degrade all the phytate phosphorus in the daily ration ,so the total phosphorus in the daily ration should be lower than standard of NRC.

Reduce the dosage of inorganic phosphorus to decrease the phosphorus level in the excrement .

Adding high level Phytase to broilers daily ration can significantly improve the utilization of calcium , reduce the sedimentation of calcium at the latter stage , and high calcium level will do harm to the remaining quantity of phosphorus in the body.
